Crypto

Perhaps you read about the outbreak of Cryptosporidiosis, commonly known as “Crypto,” in several Arlington Public pools in July 2008. Crypto can be transmitted via animal or human feces and is manifest as an intestinal illness. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that if you have symptoms of intestinal illness, such as diarrhea, vomiting, or stomach cramps, do not go swimming – in a public pool or private pool.

Recommendations for treatment of a pool when cryptosporidium is suspected, would be to raise the chlorine level to 20ppm. Contact us if anyone who has been swimming in your pool has been diagnosed with Cryptosporidiosis and we will Super Chlorinate the pool with the appropriate recommendations from the CDC.
